-
1
Check you qualify
Every Ghanaian citizen living outside Ghana can register, from birth. The NIA registers Ghanaians abroad at Ghana Missions on a continuous basis. You can also register in Ghana when you visit.
-
2
Apply online
Fill in the application form at register.nia.gov.gh. Your details must match your documents.
-
3
Book and pay

Your first Ghana Card from abroad has a fee, paid when you book your registration appointment. It is the cedi equivalent of US$55 in the ECOWAS region, US$75 in the rest of Africa and US$115 outside Africa.
Replacing a card abroad costs the same. -
4
Attend your appointment
Bring your original documents. An officer checks them, enters your details on the National Identity Register and takes your 10 fingerprints, irises, photo and signature.
-
5
Check and get your card
Review the printout of your details, then sign it. Point out any mistakes so they can be corrected before your card is printed. Your card is then issued to you using your biometrics.
